Silent Hill: Shattered Memories PS2/Wii Comparison

Climax’s Silent Hill: Shattered Memories was released for both Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 2. Of course, the PS2 version lacks the motion controls due to the lack of Wii remote. But if you’ve ever wondered how the games differ from a graphical standpoint, the above video should prove very interesting.

Some of the items and rooms are slightly different in the two versions. But as pointed out in the video’s comments, it might be due to the game’s psych profile, which alters subtle elements in the game based on your gameplay style. What’s more striking is the PS2′s short draw distance, muddy textures, and muted colors.

On one hand, I’m thinking the PS2 version actually looks fairly passable when you consider it’s technically one console generation behind the Wii. The team did a good job optimizing the game and salvaging the graphics. On the other, I wonder if it’s actually the Wii version that had to compromise its graphics in the name of multi-platform compatibility.

Either way, the video is just more proof that the Wii version is the definitive one.
