The London Borough of Islington is quiet on Christmas, even at 4:30 in the afternoon. The yellowish lights bathe the streets in a warm golden light. Walking down the street, I see only the activity of cars coming and going, their headlights reflected on the windows of closed shops. The other people on the sidewalk are standing in place, having only stepped outside from their parties for a smoke.
