My travels in London have consisted of walking and taking the London Underground (Tube). The stations are filled with helpful maps so it’s difficult to get lost or stranded. However, once you’re out on the street, I’ve found it difficult to get my bearings straight. Particularly challenging is locating street signs, which are not posted on the street lights as in America, but on the walls of random buildings.

Some stations provide little maps of the surrounding area that you can bring along. Most don’t. The solution is to bring a camera and take a picture of the exit guides. Here’s a picture I took of the guide at the Westminster station.
The less time you spend getting lost, the less time you’ll have to spend later rubbing your feet on a concrete bench on the side of the road because they feel like they’re about to explode.
